I don’t need the most elaborate sewing machine, as I just want to use it for hems mostly, but I don’t want one that is going to fall apart the first time I use it either. What brands are good quality but still on the cheaper side?
One Response to “What kind of sewing machine should I buy? What is the best for the cheapest price?”
Buy a Brother or Singer from a discount store. They are lower end models, but have the same basic warranty as the higher end machines.
I bought a Singer 1507 and it sews a beautiful stitch, makes a great button hole and has a blind hem feature for hemming. I got the machine for $20.00 off the discount price during the store’s coupon special for a total of $70.00.
In addition, when looking at the machines, reach in where the set-screw is located for changing the needle to see if there is room for your hand to maneuver. Some machines are so compact that this is a difficult task.
